Coaching Guide
for Children & Teens

Hi, I am Mirka

I work with children and teenagers to help them figure out what they want, understand what gets in the way, and learn new tools that make school, friendships, and everyday life easier. Coaching with me is relaxed, supportive, and tailored to you. My goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and capable.

I’m also a mom of a teenager with ADHD, so I understand both the ups and downs of growing up and the challenges families face.

That’s a big part of why I do this work, I want young people to feel supported in a way that really fits them.

And when I’m not coaching, you’ll usually find me watching movies, laughing with my family, hiking, at the beach or in the snow (I love skiing!), or listening to music.

What is Coaching?

Coaching is a space just for you where you get to talk things through with someone who isn’t a parent or a teacher.
A coach is like a thinking partner, someone who helps you understand what’s going on inside your mind, what you want, and what gets in the way.

A coach isn’t here to judge you or tell you what you “should” do.

Instead, they ask questions, help you explore ideas, and share tools you can try out, only if you want to, so you can discover what works best for you.

You can think of coaching like this:

  • It’s a place to figure things out with someone who’s on your side.

  • It helps you understand how you work, your brain, your habits, your strengths.

  • It gives you skills you can use in school, at home, with friends, and in everyday life.

Why Someone Might Try Coaching

People your age come to coaching for lots of different reasons, such as:

  • Schoolwork & studying: finding routines, getting started, staying organised, or stopping procrastination.

  • Feeling better inside: handling stress, overwhelm, frustration, self-doubt, or big emotions.

  • Confidence: noticing strengths, building courage, and feeling more sure of yourself.

  • Friendships & social stuff: dealing with tricky situations, communicating, or fitting in.

  • Understanding your brain: noticing how you think, learn, and react, and finding ways that work best for you.

  • Life changes: new school year, new teachers, exams, or big transitions.

What Coaching Session Looks Like

Coaching sessions for children and teens under 15 last 30 minutes and take place online over Zoom.
Shorter sessions work well for younger clients, they keep the pace comfortable, help with focus, and make the coaching experience feel relaxed and manageable.

For teens 15 and older, we can discuss the session length together and choose what feels right.
